Having a gas fireplace in your home is a great way to keep warm when it’s cold outside while saving money on your heating bills and possibly increasing your home’s curb appeal.

Our team can help you choose the best gas fireplace for your home and our certified installation technicians can get you started with gas in as little as one day.

Having a brand-new gas fireplace installed is generally a bit more involved than a conversion, costing anywhere from $7,500 to $15,000 depending on your options.

The new fireplace unit itself could cost anywhere from $2,500 to $7,500 while the installation of the fireplace’s surroundings could be another $2,500 to $7,500 depending on the type of stone or tile you choose and if you want a standard or custom mantle.

Process of Converting to a Gas Fireplace

If you’re looking to convert an existing fireplace to gas, then a gas fireplace insert is the best option for you.

Converting an existing fireplace to a gas insert is a relatively quick and straightforward job with two things to consider first and foremost: whether the home already has a functioning gas supply and the amount of space available for the insert.

First the existing fireplace is prepared to be converted by running a gas line and electrical line to it and removing the existing damper.

In some cases the chimney liner may need to be replaced because liners designed to vent wood smoke may not be equipped to handle the fumes from a gas fire.

After these preparations are finished, the gas insert is ready to be installed. A remote control, if applicable, may be paired with the fireplace. Then you’re well on your way to heating your home with a new, efficient gas conversion fireplace.

Gas Fireplace Conversion Costs

Converting a fireplace to gas can cost anywhere from $2,300 to $10,000 depending on the particular installation and can take 1 to 2 days to complete.

The numerous benefits and long-term cost savings of gas fireplaces means that these units can very quickly begin paying for themselves even if your installation is on the higher end.

Features & Benefits

What are the Benefits of Installing a Gas Fireplace?

Converting your existing wood-burning fireplace to gas or installing a new gas fireplace is an excellent way to efficiently heat your home and increase its curb appeal in the process.

SIMPLE

Ease of Use

Having a gas fireplace means you no longer need to chop wood, or purchase wood, in order to heat your home. You also will no longer need to store that firewood, worry about getting a fire started, or continue feeding a fire to keep warm.

With a gas fireplace, all it takes is the flip of a switch and a blazing fire will heat your home in no time. A continuous gas supply will keep the fire stoked and, with some units, you can even adjust the amount of heat the fireplace gives off.

When you’re done with the fire, all you have to do is switch off the gas line with no need to wait for the fuel to run out or to stir the ashes to ensure that there are no embers left.

RELIABILITY

Low Maintenance

Gas fireplaces do not require as much cleaning as a wood-burning fireplace. There are no ashes or soot to sweep up after a fire and you don’t have to deal with wood pellets or chips cluttering the area around your hearth.

Gas fireplaces also burn cleaner than wood fireplaces. This means when you convert from wood to gas, residue from the fire (such as creosote) will not build up as much on the inside of your chimney.

When you convert from wood to gas, you may not have to clean your fireplace and chimney as often between annual inspections.

SAVINGS

Reduced Energy Costs

INVESTMENT

Improved Look & Value

Converting your wood-burning fireplace to gas can add a fresh, modern look to your home in addition to the above benefits. Converting to gas is a great investment in your home’s property value.

Many prospective homebuyers look for gas fireplaces when shopping for a new home because of the lower maintenance costs, ease of use, and reduced energy costs of gas fireplaces compared to wood.

New Gas Fireplace Installation

In many ways, installing a new gas fireplace has the same benefits as converting an existing wood fireplace to gas. Gas fireplaces are easier to use than other fuels, they are lower maintenance, more efficient, have lower energy costs, and they can help increase the value of your home.

Installing a new gas fireplace where there wasn’t one before is a longer process than converting an existing fireplace to gas, but it is still a great way to have a safe, efficient, and attractive source of heat in your home.

If you’ve been considering a new gas fireplace for your home, give the team at Priddy Chimney Sweeps a call or schedule an appointment for a consultation. Our experienced, professional staff of fireplace designers, builders, and installers can guide you through any fireplace-related question you may have.

Process of Installing a New Gas Fireplace

The process of building and installing a brand-new fireplace can take about 2 to 3 weeks after you choose the unit you like the most to complete.

After establishing the location for your new fireplace with you, our fireplace experts will design and build the hearth and mantle for your new gas unit.

Some options for the fireplace surround include:

  • Tile
  • Marble
  • Ledger stone
  • Custom mantlepieces

Depending on your taste, ventilation pipes leading outside your home or a full chimney can be built for the new fireplace to create the right airflow for operation and venting of fumes.

Our licensed installation techs will run gas lines and electricity to the fireplace, pair a remote to the unit (depending on the model you choose), and then install the firebox, glass doors, and aesthetic items such as gas logs, lava rock, or glass.

Cost of a New Gas Fireplace

Having a brand-new gas fireplace installed is generally a bit more involved than a conversion, costing anywhere from $1,800 to $5,000.

However, the savings that you can expect from heating parts of your home with a gas fire means that the investment you’ve made in a new fireplace will start paying for itself almost immediately.

Professional Gas Fireplace Maintenance

Having a gas fireplace in your home does require some maintenance and upkeep such as cleaning the glass and occasionally wiping down the burners. Fortunately, that upkeep is significantly less than a wood-burning fireplace requires and much of the maintenance can be done by the homeowner.

However, most fireplace manufacturers do recommend an annual inspection by a professional to make sure the gas fireplace is operating safely and efficiently.

That’s where Priddy Chimney Sweeps comes in!

Not only are we licensed chimney professionals, we are also highly qualified and experienced at servicing gas fireplaces.

Gas Fireplace Inspection and Maintenance Services

During your annual chimney inspection you can also have your gas fireplace inspected to ensure that it’s in good working order.

Keeping your fireplace clean and having it inspected annually can help you save money on your utility bills by making sure that the fireplace is operating as efficiently as possible. It’s also key in ensuring that the fireplace is safe to use.
